hope...

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
—Romans 15:13

Over the past week, the prayer request have been overwhelming. Deaths, surgeries, sickness, finances, direction, protection... The list goes on and on. You know we are always in need of God. Whether it be in bad times or in good. I am so thankful He is always there, we are never alone. We all know that He did not promise an easy ride, but He did promise He would never forsake us, never leave us alone. That is such great peace if we just hang on to it. Just trust in Him!
As we watch the news of this horrible natural disaster unfold before our eyes, I search for scripture that will be comforting. Most of you know the Bible is full of hopeful and reassuring scripture. I am listing below several I thought would be helpful. Write them down, tack them up where you might need to retreat back to them. Just know, He is with you. However our situations unfold, He will be there. It can be so difficult, but try to get to a place in your walk with Him where you are sensitive to His voice. There is not a greater peace than knowing Him.

God Bless and Much Love,
Natalie

For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. —Psalms 71:5

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. —2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. —Romans 12:12

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. —Psalms 42:11

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD. -Psalms 31:24

When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. -Proverbs 14:32

But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.
-Jeremiah 17:7

keep climbing...

James 1:2-3

2”Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” James 1:2-3 (NIV)

Hello Everyone!

Well, I am so sorry that I skipped a week on you guys. With much surprise, last week was a very painful and long week. For those of you who have had your appendix removed, you would agree that it is a very painful experience. To my surprise, my appendix was very infected and would not get better. So, Wednesday afternoon they removed my appendix. While I was dealing with this, my church was also facing a very difficult situation. This past week the pastor of my church resigned. As I sit here this Monday, I am feeling much better, but healing is much needed for my church family.

As I searched for something that would be perfect for my church family, but also apply to any of us. I came across this wonderful devotion. Instead of trying to summarize it for you, I am going to share the whole excerpt from the book.

“A group of climbers set out to scale a large mountain in Europe. The view boasted a breathtaking peak of snowcapped rocks. On clear days the crested point reigned as king on the horizon. Its white tip jutted the blue sky inviting admiration and offering inspiration.
On days like that the hikers made the greatest progress. The peak stood above them like a compelling goal. Eyes were called upward. The walk was brisk. The cooperation was unselfish. Though many, they climbed as one, all looking to the same summit.
Yet on some days the peak of the mountain was hidden from view. The cloud covering would eclipse the crisp blueness with a drab, gray ceiling and block the vision of the mountaintop. On those days the climb became arduous. Eyes were downward and thoughts inward. The goal was forgotten. Tempers were short. Weariness was an uninvited companion. Complaints stung like thorns on the trail.
We’re like that, aren’t we? As long as we can see our dream, as long as our goal is within eyesight, there is no mountain we can’t climb or summit we can’t scale. But take away our vision, block our view of the trail’s end, and the result is as discouraging as the journey.
Think about it. Hide the Nazarene who calls to us from the mountaintop and see what happens.
Listen to the groans of the climbers as they stop and sit by the side of the path. Why continue if there is no relief in sight? Pilgrims with no vision of th promised land become proprietors of their own land. They set up camp. They exchange hiking boots for loafers and trade in their staffs for new recliners. Instead of looking upward at him, they look inward at themselves and outward at each other. The result? Cabin fever. Quarreling families. Restless leaders. Fence-building. Staked-off territory. No trespassing! signs are hung on hearts and homes. Spats turn into fights as myopic groups turn to glare at each other’s weaknesses instead of turning to worship their common Strength.
Mark it down. We are what we see. If we see only ourselves, our tombstones will have the same epitaph Paul used to describe enemies of Christ: “Their god is their own appetite, they glory in their shame, and this world is the limit of their horizon” (Philippians 3:19).
Humans were never meant to dwell in the stale fog of the lowlands with no vision of their Creator.
That’s why God came near. To be seen.
And that’s why those who saw him were never the same. “We saw his glory,” exclaimed one follower.
“We were eyewitnesses to his majesty,” whispered a martyr.
They saw the peak. They breathed the fresh air of the high country. They caught a glimpse of the pinnacle. And they refused to quit climbing until they reached the top. They wanted to see Jesus.
Seeing Jesus is what Christianity is all about. Christian service, in its purest form, is nothing more than imitating him who we see. To see his majesty and to imitate him, that is the sum of Christianity.
This is why those who see him today are never the same again.
Acquiring a vision of your Maker can be like starting a whole new life. It can be like a new birth. In fact, the One who inspired this book said that new beginnings and good eyesight are inseparable. “Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
If Jesus is who he says he is, there is no truth more worthy of your time and no god more worthy of your devotion. Keep climbing. And keep looking up. But make sure your eyes are on the Savior.”

I appreciate you taking the time to read this passage and I hope it was something you needed to hear. In James we read the letter that he wrote urging Christians to express their faith in daily living. 2”Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” James 1:2-3 (NIV) I Haven’t always been a big fan of The Message Bible, but let me tell you how it translates this scripture, I really do love it: “2 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. 3 You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors.” James 1:2-3 (The Message)

I pray for each of you and His guidance in your life. No matter what life brings you, keep your eyes on Him!

Have a wonderful week!
Natalie

P.S. I would like to start a email prayer chain. There have been many prayer request brought to my attention. If you would like to be apart of this, please email me and let me know to add your email address. I will send this out separate from our verse of the week. Prayer is very important and I know we will make a difference by coming together and giving it to Him. Please let me here from you soon, I would like to send this out as soon as tomorrow. Thanks so much!

my mother...

Hey Guys!!

Well, I guess you thought I forgot about you! Well, I didn't!! Hah! I have just been away for some much needed time with my family. You know, while sitting there on that beautiful beach I got to thinking about a lot of things. I sat there looking out at that amazing ocean with my precious husband beside me, and my amazing kids playing in front of me and I thanked God for His blessings. What a wonderful and satisfying feeling it is to be a wife and a mother.

If I had to tell someone the story of my life, it would be a crazy one! The truth be known, I could probably write a book! Crazy, but wonderful. It has made me the woman I am today and I am thankful for my journey. Looking back, like most folks, there is always a mother somewhere in the story. I once told my Mother that she was "my leaning post in life". I am so thankful to still be leaning on her today. She is an amazing woman.

You know, my mother has the softest cheeks. Her skin smells so absolutely sweet. And I think her hands are just beautiful, they tell a story of strength and beauty. If I could draw, I would draw you an identical picture of her hands without ever looking at them. Isn't it funny what comes to mind when we think of our Mothers? And, most always, when I think of my Mother, I think of her Mother. I can tell you the same traits of my Mother are identical to that of hers, down to the smell of her skin, the age spots on her hand and the kindness in her heart. I come from a long line of strong women. Godly women. This, above all traits, is what stands out the most. Throughout the Bible, you will find the word Mother. Through different scripture, we can learn of her story, her responsibility, her strength, her challenges, her faithfulness and her blessings. It wasn't until I became a Mother myself that I fully understood the responsibility of being a Christian Mother. It wasn't until I became a Mother that I fully appreciated my own Mother. I am thankful for my Mother and her mother and my Daddy's mother and their love for God and their desire to raise Godly children. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful Mother. He has blessed me with so many different wonderful mothers. Not everyone can say that they are surrounded by godly woman, but I am so thankful to be! All the different mothers in my life are a daily guide and encouragement to be the Christian mother God wants me to be.

I want to encourage all of you (mother, wife or NOT...it's good) to read Proverbs 31:10-31. No, I am not asking you guys to memorize all of these verses. But find a Bible...open it...read!!! It is a wonderful scripture. Find something in it worth remembering and hide it in your heart!

In studying these verses I came across the story of William Booth. He was the founder of the Salvation Army. This is the tribute he gave to his wife Catherine at the time of her death:

"To me she has been made of God, never-failing sympathy, reliable wisdom, and unvarnished truth - in short, all that is noble and
good; and consequently a tower of strength, a mine of wealth, and an overflowing fountain of comfort and joy,"

With "undistracted devotion to the Lord" Catherine Booth was a woman to be praised because she feared the Lord.

Have a Blessed Mothers Day!

Much Love,
Your Sister in Christ - Natalie

P.S. Today is National Prayer Day! You may or may not be hearing a lot about this holiday, our president isn't really observing it! (hence the need to pray!!) But, take a few minutes and talk to God. There is a world of things to be praying for!!! If you have any prayer request you would like to share with us, please send them to me! Have a great day!

who told the ocean...

>"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37 (NIV

Hey Guys!

Hope you all had a fabulous Monday! Can you believe it is Monday again!!! I don't know about you, but these weeks just seem to be flying by so fast. I just don't know where the time goes to anymore! So, I am going to make this weeks verse short and sweet. But, very powerful. It will be easy for you to remember and hide in your heart.

One of my favorite songs, talks about the mightiness of God. Every time I hear it, I just listen and let the words soak in and I am overwhelmed by His power. "Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning. And who told the ocean, you can only come this far. And who showed the moon where to hide till evening. Whose words alone can catch a falling star." I mean, just picture this! How awesome! He really did do that. He can move mountains! Anything is possible with God. Anything! He showed the moon where to hide till evening. He is that big! So, whatever you are facing today, KNOW THIS..."For nothing is impossible with God." I repeat..."For nothing is impossible with God."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever you guys are dealing with right now, just give it to Him. "For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37 (NIV)I love you guys so much!
Have a great week,
Natalie

the follow-through...

Hello Everyone!!!

I sure hope you guys are having a wonderful week. I don't know about you guys, but I am loving the weather, despite my allergies! My family loves being outside and running around. So, when my son Will decided to play ball, we couldn't wait. There is nothing better than being at the ballgame on a sunny afternoon. I have always loved baseball, but Saturdays at the ballpark have taking on a new meaning. I am no longer "the girlfriend" or the "big sister". I am have proudly been promoted to "Will's Momma" !! We started out the year with the attitude of "just wanting the kids to have fun." Well, that quickly faded after the first practice! I now have to catch myself from screaming out instructions throughout the entire ballgame. Which reminds me of my precious parents! Right before my brother would start the wind up they would always holler out some kind of instructions for him to be successful on delivering the perfect pitch! Of course, I always turned to Andy for an explanation. Most of the time it was always about the finish, you know, the "follow-through". Oh, hmm, follow-through!

Well, for those of you who don't know I am proud to have three amazing baseball players in my family. Will, by far the best, is just whacking the ball! But, the other two have also been very exciting to watch. (I say this with great understatement) There was nothing more exciting than hearing the crack of Andy's bat as he smashed the ball out of sight. Usually after three fouled balls on a full count! Very Intense! And man could he throw a strike! Caleb, tall and towering on the mound, could make the hairs on my arm stand straight up. So, over the years I guess I could say I have learned a little about baseball! But probably, one of the most important was the follow-through. Andy explained it to me like this: The follow-through is the last step of a pitch, if you do not complete the follow-through it affects the way you throw the ball, which is the delivery. Without a complete follow-through you throw a bad pitch.

What ever happened to the commitment we made 1, 3, 10 or 20 years ago, at the time of our first love for God? Anybody who is called can be on fire for the truth, but without the vital follow-through, the initial excitement of first love can and does fizzle fast. Ecclesiastes 7:8 says, "The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride." While the initial stages are important, God is much more interested in the results.

In the Bible, God makes it very clear of what He thinks of His people who make commitments but fail to keep their word.
If we allow God to continue working with us, He will lead us to the ultimate follow-through.

6"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
I think this is a great verse, very hopeful! I hope it will help you this week and encourage you to FOLLOW-THROUGH !!!!!!!

God Bless,
Natalie

how's a little fellowhip...

Hey Guys!

Sorry I am coming to you a couple of days late. I hope everyone had an amazing Easter. I had a wonderful Easter with my family. I am blessed to have celebrated Easter Sunday sitting and worshipping with all my family (well, most of them) but thankfully ending the day by spending it with all of them. I have an amazing family and I love the fact that we can all joyously come together and fellowship as Christians. There is something to be said about true Christian fellowship. I grew up in the church, Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, Wednesday nights and all the functions in between, I was there. I admit it was good for me. I am thankful my parents are Christians and felt it imperative to have me involved in church and the activities promoted by our church. I know it has helped mold me into the Christian I am still becoming. I also know, that it was during my time in college, when I was not as involved in church and not very close to God that I really began to have a desire to know Him better. It was there that God placed a very special lady (she was actually a secretary in one of the departments at Alabama) into my life who daily reminded me of the importance of Christ in our lives. I also know, that it is this present time now, when I am in fellowship with other Christians that I have gotten so close to God. And I have a desire to know him better.

After this past weekend and reading through my bible, I thought it would be good to find a verse that dealt with fellowship. In Hebrew 10:25 it says, “Let us not give up the meeting together, as some are in habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching." You know, I think it is important to have true fellowship with other Christians. In I John 3-4 we see that John wants to tell everyone what he knows of Jesus, what he "has seen and heard." He thought by telling others about Jesus he would be promoting fellowship with others. True fellowship is what John desired, and it is what most of us are seeking as well. Fellowship is not just hanging out with your buddies. It is being with others that have the same goals and desires as you do. By having this, there is a better communication, a better understanding between people. This allows you to have a deeper experience with one another.

Last week, as you know, with some reservation, I decided to send our verse to my entire contact list. I sat at my computer overwhelmed with emotion as I read email after em ail. Most of the responses were from the ones I had added and it was such a joy to read them I can't explain. See, John tells us about this fellowship that he is so eager for others to have. When we fellowship with God, He brings us into fellowship with each other. Telling someone about Jesus and also listening to others tell you is the most fulfilling experience you can have with other people. Thank you so much for your responses. They have been so encouraging and uplifting to read!

3 "We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete." I John 1:3-4
You know He is always with us. He is always there. It is our decision how much we want to acknowledge or recognize Him.

I encourage you to seek true Christian fellowship with others. Whether it is in church, in Sunday school, a small group, a group of coworkers or friends or your spouse. I really believe that He intended for us to fellowship with others. I think it encourages us, it comforts us, it brings us joy, and it also challenges us as Christians.

Our verse for the week:
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." I John 1:6-7

Okay, it is two verses, but give it a try. I pray that you will be encouraged to continue to hide His word in your heart!!! And I also pray that you will be encouraged to seek a Christian fellowship with others.

I hope that the rest of your week is fabulous and will talk again next Monday!

Love you guys!
Your sister in Christ,
Natalie

let your light shine...

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 (NIV)
Hey Guys!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday morning! Well, for some time now we are being reminded to take care on our planet. Conserve. Recycle. Reuse. Re purpose. Mother nature is getting a bit used up and we are being encouraged to lend a helping hand. One of the easiest ways to going green is to conserve electricity. It is a simple act most everyone including children can begin to do. From replacing old bulbs with new energy efficient ones to just cutting off the lights when you leave a room! My Dad is notorious for having every light in the house on! He just likes the light!! And then there are some folks who just enjoy the comfort of a dark room. Well, I want to talk to you about a light that I will encourage you to keep on!

With Easter soon approaching several verses have been running through my mind. I decided I wanted to find a verse that were actual words of Jesus himself. I thought it would be appropriate to have something coming directly from Him! Sitting in church yesterday, I was really convicted of something. You see, when I started this bible verse memorization about a month and a half ago. I looked over my "contact list" and SELECTED those to send it to. I chose a group of people I thought would be interested in doing this with me. I admit there were many I skipped over. (As you all know over time you seem to accrue many email addresses from random things!) For many reasons, I did not check there name...Either not knowing them well enough to send it, not thinking they would be interested or just not wanting to bother them or offend them every week with my personal thoughts and beliefs. Over these past weeks I have gotten so many request to add people to our Word Warrior list. (Isn't that so exciting!!) But yesterday, I was challenged to do more. I had the pleasure of attending two different church services yesterday. (In an attempt with my future sister-n-law to surprise my grandmother by being on "her pew" when she arrived only to be surprised to find out she was going to the later service!!) So, after listening to two preachers and a Sunday school teacher, I was convinced He needed all three to relay the message He was sending me. With all this conserving, I am convinced there is one light that should always remain on. Throughout the centuries, many people have been shining lights for Jesus Christ. Today, we really are living in a world filled with spiritual darkness. There are people all around us who are just gripping at something that will bring light into their world. God wants us to be a shining light for those people. So, when it comes to light, there is one I am not going to conserve on. I am going to send out our weekly bible verse to my entire contact list. Pray with me that it will be received gladly and that it will make a difference in someone’s life! I encourage you to shine your light. Let God send you in a new direction today. Be a light for someone at their crossroads.

Sometimes we end up in such a dark place we do not think that our light can be seen. Thanks to Andy, our life has been an adventurous one. He has always loved to go exploring, especially in caves! If you have ever had the opportunity to be in a cave and cut your flashlight off you know of real darkness. You almost can feel it! But, the minute you turn on ONE small light, it seems to fill up the whole cave with light. It really is amazing.

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12 (NIV) God has entrusted to us the ministry of being a shining light for Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Don't underestimate the power of one persons light. There are so many who do not know Jesus Christ as there personal savior. Darkness is all around us. So, I encourage you to continue to hide His word in your hearts so that His light may shine through you! Light your lamps!

Have a wonderful week!
I love you guys!

Your sister in Christ,
Natalie

Prayer Request:
Jan Johnson (She is going for her 2 year check up today. Praying for a praise report)
Baby Addison (She is back in the hospital. For more information email Karen Harris at karenharris@charter.net)
Joana and Stephen Horn and the Horn family (The recent loss of Kelton Horn)
Leigh Ann Ammons ( June 6 she will be having another surgery)

Please fill free to email me any prayer request. I know that there are some mighty prayer warriors on the other end of this connection. We will be more than happy to lift you up in prayer.

FYI: For those new to this email... Some time back I was burdened with the thought of not having the freedom to have a Bible. It was a very scary thought, especially since I knew so little verses. I wondered how would I be able to teach my precious children about Jesus Christ. How would I lead someone to Christ without knowing the appropriate scripture. How would I defend my savior. How would I be able to deal with life's daily struggles without knowing how He would have me do it. So, I set out on a mission, to weekly learn a scripture from the Bible. So, I have begun..."I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalms 119:11 (NIV) I have encouraged my family and dearest friends to do this with me. I know that God will bless our diligence and hard work! We are now on week 7 and if you are interested in past verses you can find them on my blog at http://thegorods.blogspot.com This is something that God has laid upon my heart to do and I do so to further His kingdom. I hope it blesses you as it has blessed me. I love the idea of something uniting all of us together. "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:18-20 (NIV)

Much love,
Natalie McLeod Elrod

having faith...

Hey Guys!
I have to say I love all of the seasons. They each in their own way are my absolute favorite. There is nothing better than Summer afternoons on the beach, and watching my kids pick tomatoes off of the vine. But then, you might catch me saying how Fall is my most favorite time of the year. I love how things seem to slow down and get a little lazy. Being outside around a campfire with Andy and my kids, looking for the first sign of change in the trees. Then, there is Winter, a time to rest and a time to be rejuvenated. Winter times seems to give me and my family the rest we so greatly need as well as the time together. Now Spring, well, it seems to get my juices flowing. Even before the last frost, I am wanting to put something in the ground. I love this time of year! It is a time of hope and new beginnings.

I sometimes think I was born a little past my time. I have always wanted to be a farm girl, to live off the land! My whole life I have been drawn to the country way of life. (Despite the fact I will not ride a horse and am SLOWLY overcoming the fear of my chickens attacking me!) I have to tell you there is nothing better than springtime on a farm. Signs of new life are all around you, from the animals to the ground, it is just amazing. You can't see it but I know it is there. Over the past several years I have unearthed this passion for growing things. It is something my whole family can do together. To be able to put something in the ground, nurture it and watch it grow into something that can nourish you is a miracle. To see my children excited about taking a seed and having the faith that it will surely turn into carrot is a wonder to behold. It brings me more joy than I can ever explain. We take these seeds or a plant and we put it in the ground, just having faith by Summer it will be this juicy tomato we have hoped for. At first, we do not see the big tomato or the carrot, we just see a seed. But, we are sure of what we hope it will be. This is simple. This is faith. This is all we need. Having faith that everything is in His hands. He is in control and all you have to do is have faith. We may not be able to see how things are going to turn out, but that is okay. We have to be strong enough to give it to Him.
This brings me to a great verse I happened upon, I think you will enjoy it and I pray it will be one you can hide in your heart for Him.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1(NIV)
I hope you guys have a wonderful week and I love you all very much! Thanks for continuing to hide His Word in your hearts!! Great things are coming from our little emails!!!! He still has His hands all over this!

Your sister in Christ,
Natalie

the signature...

Hey Guys,
Sorry I am coming to you so late in the week. Andy and I have been really sick and haven't been able to send a new verse out. I have really enjoyed searching for these verses and reading the Word of God. The whole thing has really been a blessing. I appreciate your comments and support. We will continue to lift each other up and give Him the Glory!!

Just a reminder, please continue to keep you Word Warrior buddies in your prayers. So many things are going on with each one of us. Blessings and praise reports are all around!

Well, lets get to it...
The Signature of Jesus!
<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< The fish symbol is one of the earliest symbols of christianity and was the most common representation of Jesus Christ from the 2nd to the 4th centuries. You can find the symbolism of the fish throughout the bible. Jesus used it many times in his parables to the people. It was said to have been used as a secret code to identify one to another as a christian. After the ascension of Jesus the christian church was growing rapidly. Christians found themselves to be the subjects of persecution by both Jews and the Romans. In many areas it became very dangerous to be known as a christian. It has been told that when two strangers met and thought that the other might be a fellow believer. He would draw an upper arc of the fish symbol on the ground. If the other person recognized the symbol, he would finish with a lower arc to create the fish symbol. It was a very simple symbol to draw and could just as easily be erased as it was drawn if the stranger did not recognize the symbol. Today, the person who displays the fish symbol has accepted the same New Testament teachings as the earliest Christians accepted, that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior !! How do you display your fish symbol? Some people choose to display this symbol in many different ways. Today, you can just about find it on anything and everything. It can be seen on the back of cars, on jewelry, clothing and even tattoos! It is a wonderful thing to show to others. It represents that you have chosen by faith to enter into a personal relationship with Him and understand the reality of God's forgiveness. Romans 10:9 reads, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved".

Do others see Jesus' signature written across your life? How do you display the fish symbol? The best way to witness to others is to show them Him in your life, in your actions! We are hiding His word in our heart so that others will see Him in us. "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22 (NIV)
Let others see your fish symbol through your faith in Jesus Christ. In order for others to see Jesus' signature in our lives, we must put action to our faith. Our faith and our actions need to work together. As Abraham put his faith and his actions together he was considered righteous."You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did." James 2:22. The scripture goes on to read, "You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone." James 2:24.

Display your fish symbol proudly!!!

You know my PawPaw LOVED to witness to others. I mean, if he had any idea that someone might not be saved,he would grab a buddy and before you knew it, he was sitting on there couch asking them point blank if they believed in Jesus Christ. There were times he would confront them right then and there. I always admired the way he witnessed to people. I am very proud to say he lead alot of people to the Lord. His walk with Christ has been an amazing influence in my life. I am a little ashamed to say, that at this time, I am still striving to have the ability he possessed to witness to others. I definitely take a much more quieter approach. I do pray that this changes over time and I can be a better witness for Him. Hopefully by hiding His word in my heart, I am doing just that. But, the one thing I have learned through reading and studying my Bible, is this...actions do speak louder than words!

So, again I say display your fish proudly!!! Let it be a proclamation of your faith and let your faith and your actions work together to further the Kingdom of God. This might be the only way to witness to some people!

Out of the verses used, I would suggest hiding Romans 10:9 in your heart. It probably would be the most helpful in a situation. And so simple, He doesn't make it hard. You just have to believe in Him!!

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved". Romans 10:9 I want to thank my brother for being such an influence to me! If anyone knows me, they know without a doubt I LOVE MY BROTHER!!!! I just want him to know how proud of him I am. And I want to encourage him as well as all of you (and myself) to put action to our faith. Whether it is sitting on someone's couch and in their face or passing along a verse to your dearest friends. My prayer this week is that we will not be afraid to draw that upper arc. You never know who might complete the fish! What a wonderful symbol of Jesus!

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19
I love you guys and hope the rest of your week is wonderful!

draw your swords...

Hey Guys!
Hope every one's Monday is going better than mine. The devil is working overtime trying to keep me from sending out His Word!! But, Here I Am!!! I don't know about you guys, but that was a really tough verse for me to learn. I am not sure why, I think I just got it in my head that it was soooo long, but I managed to hide it in my heart. I just hope I don't hide it where I can't find it!! lol

Yesterday, I was sitting in church, and I thought if the pastor put me on the spot would I be able to successfully "draw my sword". Suddenly, I found myself getting really nervous and a little hot! My under arms had these jolts of pain running through them. (I don't know, I guess it is a nervous reaction.) Anyway, once I managed to calm myself down, convince myself he was NOT going to ask me to quote scripture during his sermon, I was then able to recall our verses. Yes, I would love to be able to "draw my sword" without even thinking and without sweating profusely. BUT, the most important thing is being able to use it in my day to day life. Hopefully, by taking the time each Monday to read my email, you are taking a little time with God and some of these verses are sticking with you. You may not remember all of them or know them word for word. But, if you are devoting a small portion of your time to reading this email and making an attempt to memorize...you ARE spending time with him and reading His word. And that is SO GROOVY!!! He will bless you for doing so, I KNOW IT!!! The more time we spend with him the better we are going to be. Just by hiding his word in our hearts we are putting on the toughest armor made. We are able to face things and deal with them better. Whether it is not loosing our temper to being able to face this very scary economy. His word will batter equip us to handle every situation. You know, the more time we spend with Him, the more familiar He will be, His voice will be. You know we are always praying for something, asking for His help in a situation. Well, if we are going to ask then we also need to be able to hear Him! So, please continue to make the effort to hide his word in your heart. I encourage you to take time to read these verses, hide it in your heart and just spend some time with Him!!! He is REALLY COOL!!!

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall" Psalms 55:22 (NIV)
WOW!!! It is really true. Give it to Him! Surrender it to Him, Strength is in Surrender!! He will take care of you and He WILL NOT let you fall. TODAY, trust in Him and have a wonderful week! Remember to lift up you Word Warrior Brothers and Sisters, we are all facing difficult things. Remember..."For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:20

I love you guys so much!!!! You have been such a blessing to me and made me take the time for Him!!! Thank you!

for theirs is the kingdom...

Hey Everybody,

Hope everyone is having a great Monday morning. This past week and weekend was a crazy one! I did not realize my world would be so altered just by baseball. Running here and there, nonstop! I was reminded by a dear friend that when things get crazy, just take a drink of Jesus! (good story...will research more and then share with you guys!) Well, I took a lot of drinks from my Jesus cup this past week.

I wish I could share with you all the amazing emails that I receive from you guys. I know you already know, but just to remind you, God is really working through these verses. I ask you to take the time each day to remember your Word Warrior Buddies. Just take the time to lift them up to God. You may not know all their names, but He does. There have been several who have shared the trials they are facing and will be facing. Each of us has our own share of troubles, but just remember David tells us in Psalms 91:4, "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield." He will never leave us or forsake us!

I want you to know, I sit at this computer and think of each and everyone of you. Each of you are so special and important to me. Some of you I have known for a short time and some of you I have known my whole life. A dear friend ended her email by referring to me as her sister in Christ. Wow! I loved it! This whole week I have really thought about that, it has really stuck with me. This little venture to learn a bible verse each week is so much bigger than what I realized and probably you realized. We (hopefully all of us) are taking the time to learn the Word and hide it in our heart. By hiding His word we are preparing ourselves for things to come. We are also drawing ourselves closer to Him. We have come together as brothers and sisters in Christ! How amazing! Do you guys know the power of that! Whew, I have got chill bumps! I started this email with another scripture, but as I type God has directed me in another direction. I loved the verse, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10 (NIV) And, we will definitely come back to it.

I thought of this verse when I read the email from my "sister in Christ", and it just kind of stuck. My preacher even touched on it in his sermon. I was still thinking of Matthew 5:10, but apparently He changed my mind! So, here goes...

You have a choice, the long or the short version. Either way, I fill the verse could really help you out. However, I do encourage you to learn 18-20!!!

18" I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for , it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18: 18-20 (NIV)
Powerful!!!!

I pray that God will be with each of you this week and keep you and your families safe. Look for him in Everything!!

I love you guys!

YOUR SISTER IN CHRIST!!!

do not grieve...

Hey Guys,
Thanks again for all the encouraging words. I hate I am coming to you guys a day late, but, bare with me. I have got a great verse to share with you guys. Several of you passed on verses that have helped you at some time or another (and I loved them!) and I want us to learn them all, but this one caught my attention. Not necessarily at first, but I though t it would do! I was running out of time and had not prepared the verse in the way that I had intended to do. I sat down to "google" the verse, and God nudged me on my shoulder! As I researched and read about the verse and read in my Bible, I realized He was showing me that there was so much more to this simple verse...

"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)

Why is joy so important? Because the "joy of the Lord is our strength". Joy produces strength and we need strength to deal with day to day trials. Today, life seems so hard and difficult. It seems we are always battling something. The Lord wants us to take refuge in Him, to gather strength from Him. You know, pure joy is not the same as happiness. "Happiness" comes from the word "happen". Happiness is based on the things happening around you, in your life. God tells us that there is pure joy in the middle of trials. "The joy of the Lord is your strength"!!!! Joy gives us strength, we choose to fight, we have the strength to overcome, we rejoice in the victory! Do not be tired...He is our strength!!!!!! So, by rejoicing you overcome your trials!

Before I go, I have to ask...did you hide the Word in your heart? Again, I challenge and encourage you to take this journey with us in learning the Word of God. So, that we may hide His word in our heart we will be able to battle and overcome!!!

May God bless our diligence and hard work!!!

I love you guys,
Nat

an email about the blog...

Just letting you guys know I am working on a blog of my family to share with the rest of my family. It will probably take the weekend, but with a little, okay...a lot, of help from Emily, I will have it up & running!

Also, I will also use this blog to talk about our verse of the week. I have got such great responses from most everyone about learning scriptures!!! Meredith already has her memorized and Adam is asking for one each day!!! You all need to know I was a B-C student (and I struggled to be that), so I am still working on it. Emma actually almost has it down pat (she takes after her Dad). Anyway...God is great and I think it is going to be a really good thing! In this crazy fast paced world, where we all seem to be in different locations, it is, excuse me, HE is the one thing that binds us together!

my first email...

Hello Dear Friends!
Okay, there is something that has been on my mind for sometime now, and I have finally decided to do something about it! Not too long ago it was brought to my attention, the idea of not having the freedom to read my Bible. How terrible! Far fetched, but could happen. In our day and time anything is possible. The more I thought about this, the more I realized I did not know the Bible. Well, actual scriptures. I know the great stories of the Bible and I could probably find most of them with a little thumbing through. I know scripture, but not the verse or chapter where it can be found. Just say there came a time when we no longer had the freedom to read our Bible, to own a Bible. I wouldn't be able to teach my precious children The Word of God!!! I mean really think about it and how it would effect you and those around you! SCARY!!!!

Okay, all that brings me to this. I would like to take a verse each week, email it to you guys and challenge and encourage you to learn scripture with me. I mean, this could be really good. I am in deep need for the Word! Now, some of you may not be interested, but I am going to email you anyway!! (Just delete me if you are not interested.) For those of you who are...may God bless our diligence and hard work!!

If you have some suggestions, please send them to me. Maybe a favorite verse or one that has helped you!

Okay, I am excited!!!!

Here goes......

"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalms 119:11

I know, but I thought it was appropriate for our 1st verse!! See you next Monday!!!!

I love you guys,
Natalie

just the thought...

Some time back, the idea of not being able to own a Bible was brought to my attention. It was kind of said in passing, but it really stuck with me and seemed to camp out in my mind. I couldn't get away from the this terrible idea. I mean, it was far fetched, but it was possible. I have grown up listening and learning all the great stories in the bible. I have also learned key scriptures in the bible. I say learned...I could probably recite them and with a little thumbing through, could probably find them in the bible. But did I really know enough to carry me through such times and trials as this idea was bringing to mind. Most importantly, did I know enough to teach my precious children what they needed to know of our precious Lord and Savior. This was a very scary thought!!!

So, all that, lead me to this...weekly scripture memorization with friends who would encourage and hold each other accountable.

Well, this past Tuesday I started Word of God Warriors. I decided to start this adventure with Psalms 119:11, it just seemed appropriate. "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalms 119:11 (NIV) Well, I took a group of names that were very precious to me and started the 1st email. By that night, the response from some of you was just amazing. I was so excited that you were so excited!!! God has got His hands ALL OVER THIS!!!!!!!

here we go...

Okay, here goes...I'm blogging!!!! Hopefully, with some luck I will fiqure this out and have lots of fun! Here is a picture of my precious family!
